Mother's Day Presents: Sachets - Part 3

To wrap up my Mother's Day presents, I ended with a handmade Sachet. I found this very cool Sachet Tutorial from Checkout Girl. She shows step by step instructions packed with photos. These sachets are so easy and fun. I am always trying to find new ways to use felt. You can fill the sachet with anything you want. I ended up going to my local Whole Foods store to get what I need for filling.

Lavender is always great choice, just make sure whoever you are giving it to is not allergic. :)

I even was able to tie in the whole package with a handmade card, thanks to my involvement in my new Stampin-Up group. :)

see Part 1 and Part 2 for info on the other crafts in this photo.

Mother's Day Presents: Flower Pin - Part 1

I hope all the mothers out there had a special Mother's Day. This past week, was spent making presents for my Mom and Mother-in-law. For a while now, I have been wanting to try my hand at making crochet flower pins and this was the perfect occasion.

I found a great crochet flower tutorial from Attic24. She has so many cute ideas and this flower is one of my favorites. Her blog is a must-visit.

Making these pins are super easy. All you need is:

  • a Crocheted Flower
  • a Pin Back by Darice
  • 2 felt circles the size of the back of your flower
  • Needle and Thread
  • a Hot Glue Gun

    1. After you have crocheted your flower, cut 2 felt circles the size of the flower back.
    2. Stack the 2 felt circles and Sew on the pin back.
    3. Then hot glue the felt to the back of the flower.

See? Super easy! This project has so many possibilities. There are so many types of crocheted flowers out there. Give it a try!

Bottle Cap Fun!

I found this great picture tutorial on flickr, from verybigjen, on how to make Bottle Cap Pincushions! These are so fun because all you need is one bottle cap (I used a 2 liter soda cap), some felt, a needle and scissors, embroidery thread, and some fiberfill stuffing. Oh ya! And don't forget the fun part! Pins or Needles to stick in your pincushion! :)

I have made 3 already, one for fun, one to hold my sewing needles, and one to use at quilting group. They are so small and portable. This was my first felt craft and it was a lot of fun!

Also, if you want some great inspiration, go check out her pincushion galleries: here!

So go try it out! :) It will be fun!

Hexagon Fun!

As of late, I have been enthralled with Hexagon Granny Squares. I have decided  to try my hand at a Hexagon Blanket. I found this really great tutorial on how to make them from Attic24. I love her blog. She is from the UK and does amazing crochet. I cant stop looking at her newest Blanket creation blogged here. She has some excellent pictures that I could look at all day. The colors just pop off the page. She has made some very fun, eye catching blankets. She has a couple of other great tutorials on her page. Definitely a must see!

As practice and to make sure I could do Hexagons. I did a small sample peice with scraps of yarn. I made the hexagon into a flower. It will look really cute on my cirular dining room table next to my new hutch. Now that I have Hexagons down, it is time to start searching for some yarn to start my project. But for now, here are some pictures of my first 7 Hexagons. Enjoy!

Fun Tutorial!

Ok, so I have decided that moving is a complete drag! We are moving in a little over a month and I have so much to pack! Which means hardly any crafting or photography or even new etsy store items! Whats a girl to do with no crafting?! Go Crazy?! Ok, so maybe I already am crazy! :) Since I have been way to busy to keep up with my crafts and online fun, I have decided to at least share with you this really great tutorial that I found through the blog Paint In My Hair!

She posted a great tutorial on The Undercover Crate! So cute! I am dying to do this tutorial just as soon as I get that second bedroom in a month and a half!  So, Check it out! The cool thing about this is, she put it in PDF form which means all you have to do is download it and it is in this great format for printing! But the best thing? It's FREE! :)
